Backyard gardens are a great addition to any yard or park area.

Why do we plant flower gardens?
We plant flower gardens for many reasons.

• Gardens look nice.
• They add color to the yard or area where they are planted.
• Gardens can fill in areas that you don't want grass growing.
• Flower gardens attract wildlife such as bees, birds, and butterflies.

Gardeners use many different types of plants in their flower gardens. They use trees, shrubs, bulbs such as tulips or daffodils, and rhizomes such as irises. Two of the most common types of garden plants used are annuals and perennials.
